When we think about the benefits of exercise, the first things that come to mind is losing weight, gaining strength, getting toned and increasing our cardiovascular ability. Did you know that exercise has an even bigger benefit? Exercise helps our BRAIN! Our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Most of us focus so much on the body that we overlook the way exercise supports our mind.
Exercise naturally builds brain power, boosts your mood and reduces stress. Three great reasons to get moving and get healthy. Exercise makes us feel better by allowing the brain to function at its best. Outward changes from exercise can take several weeks or months to be apparent but the way exercise changes us internally and emotionally can change from just one experience. Exercise is also known for helping in memory skills, cranking up your creativity and keeping us young at heart (or brain). Your creative juices flow more fluidly by expanding the way we move it in turn allows us to discover new ideas and solutions. As for your mood, exercise helps with chronic depression by increasing the serotonin which also helps your brain regulate sleep and appetite.
So the next time you’re feeling down, anxious, or drained mentally, look to exercise to naturally move you to a better place!
