The Beaver County YMCA is committed to providing a safe environment for every child in our care. Child safety is built into how we hire and train our staff, how we design our programs, and how we respond to concerns.
Our Partnership with Praesidium
The Beaver County YMCA is partnering with Praesidium, a national leader in child abuse risk management, to pursue formal accreditation in their child safety standards.
We are actively working through Praesidium’s accreditation process. While this process is underway, we are continuing to apply Praesidium’s recognized standards to our screening, training, supervision, and reporting practices. We believe accreditation is an important step in demonstrating our long-term commitment to child safety, and we will share updates on our progress as we move through the program.
What We Do Today
Even as we work toward formal accreditation, the following are already in place at the Beaver County YMCA:
- Background checks are conducted for all staff and volunteers working with children.
- Mandatory training on identifying, preventing, and responding to abuse for all staff and volunteers.
- A Child Code of Conduct that staff and volunteers are required to follow when working with youth.
- Mandated reporting — all suspicions of abuse are reported to PA ChildLine, as required by Pennsylvania law.
- Multiple confidential reporting channels for parents, members, staff, and the broader community.
How to Report a Concern
If you have a concern about child safety at the Beaver County YMCA, you can:
- Submit our online feedback form (anonymous submissions accepted).
- Leave a handwritten note in the comment card box at the Member Service Desk — checked regularly by our CEO.
- Call the Praesidium anonymous reporting hotline at 800-743-6354.
- For reports of immediate danger, call 911.
- To report directly to Pennsylvania authorities, call ChildLine at 1-800-932-0313.
